Deployment #5

We have now entered into this deployment, and I have to say it has been a lot harder than usual. I have been way more emotional and on edge. The kids on the other hand have been....well unaffected by it. I don't understand it. I am not sure if its because they are used to him leaving so much or if they are just stronger than me.
There is one huge factor that is different this time around than any of the others. My brother in law has moved in with us and has been a huge help as far as entertaining the kids. That does help! My mother in law also came and stayed with us for a few days before my husband left. That was also nice to have help and be able to have someone stay with the kids (that i didn't have to pay), while the 2 of us went out.
Now its just a waiting game, waiting for a phone call or an email, waiting for him to get online, waiting for a chance to be able to Skype with out interruptions (on both ends).
I have already started gathering items to send in care packages. We have heard that the place he will be at in Afghanistan has no PX or place for them to buy essential items. Also thanks to Obama and budget cuts they are no longer feeding the soldiers breakfast, only lunch and dinner. So honey buns, granola bars and such will be his breakfast for a while.
I am going to try and save all receipts from the care packages this time and see how much it adds up to. I am sure that the money I spend to send him breakfast food, snacks and other things such as body wash etc... along with all the other wives that are doing it, would cost more than the government feeding them a hot breakfast. BUT who am I to argue with the president and his laws. There is a prison close to where we live, I am sure those prisoners get a hot breakfast, lunch and dinner everyday. Ok you all get my point lol I will get off my soap box :)
I hope to stay up-to-date with my blog. It gives me something to do and getting things off my chest helps.I love getting feed back, please if you are reading this and you have any advice, tips or just want to say something about my thoughts feel free to do so :)

So as I am sitting at home fuming over the fact that husband is going to have to deploy again for the 5th time, I decided I should put all this rage/energy/frustration to some good use! So I loaded up the kids went to Hobby Lobby and just kinda looked around for something to "inspire" me!
The kids furniture took me about an hour to prime and spray paint. It took me all of about 15 mins to make the head board. I let the kids paint there own initials and pick out which pictures went in the frame. All the other little nic nacs came from here and there. The vase is actually a Liguor bottle gotten from a neighbor! Total room renovation $120!

Now onto the twine wrapped vase. SUPER DUPER easy and I love it! I am thinking I am gonna have some awesome stuff to keep me busy/sane/and get the kids involved to during this deployment.

If anyone as any ideas please share, I am totally up for new projects :)

Teeth pulling extravaganza at the Staton House

After an hour and half or so of us trying to pull Ramie's (our 3rd girl) 2 bottom teeth....we finally did it!
I mean we pulled out all the stops, tylenol to calm her down and help with the pain to come, tying string around it and letting her pull on it on her own....etc. Out of the 2 kids, so far, that have lost teeth it has not been by my hand! I am NOT the tooth puller in the family, either the thing will fall out on its own or you pull it your self.
That wasn't the case here....Ramie is my last baby girl, so we all have spoiled her rotten, not that the other girls aren't spoiled but Ramie is the "princess" of the household and she KNOWS it!

As all the turmoil is going on she looks at me and says, "I want moma to do it", I started freaking out my self because as I said I DON'T DO TEETH! But of course I could not let my princess down, if she wanted moma to do it by golly I was gonna muster up the courage and do it! Usually being the picture taker/video maker of the family, I instead have the task of pulling the teeth. Please be advised that the video you are about to see seems like we are killing our child....but we are not! She is just really scared, as you will see in the video we lost the tooth. We did, for a minute or two, but we found it in her dress!

Budding artist

As you can see from my previous (yard sale finds) post I recently acquired a bicycle and a treadmill. So I have been getting up with my husband when he leaves for PT and going for a bike ride. Then coming home and doing as much as I can on the treadmill.
Well Turner was awake this morning so I couldn't go for a bike ride. But while I was on the treadmill he decided to draw me a picture on the dry erase board (supposed to be used for chore charts). He is so cute! I hope he gets the artist gene from his daddy and I both.
Just as long as the art stays on the easel LOL

Yard Sale Finds

So a couple weekends ago there was a post wide yard sale. Most military installations do this every year maybe once or twice. This was my second time joining the yard sale mania. A friend and I decided to put our "stuff" together so maybe we would sale more. I did sell a lot of my things, but of course the ones I really did not want to bring back into my house didn't sell! Needless to say I did find some amazing deals of my own, as I was looking for money in my coin purse to make change low and behold I found a $100 bill! YES! I completely forgot I put it there a month or so ago when I sold my kids beds. So I went shopping! I found some pretty amazing stuff, spent the whole $100 but made it all back in sales of my own.

Here are my treasures....

Starting over on my blogging journey

A few years ago I started blogging while our family was stationed in Germany. At the request of my mother so that she could keep up on what was going on with us as a family.
My mother passed away unexpectedly and I have had no desire to blog.

Well I have started to realize that all these crazy things and all the madness, happiness and wonderful journeys we go threw, I want my kids to remember and have something to look back on besides just pictures. They will actually get to see things the way I saw them when it happened.

I hope that the people who read this blog, not just my kids, but other mothers, army wives, cooks and just random people will take away something from what they read. I will post many pictures, recipes, and stories. Stay tuned the chronicles will continue!
